MEC Star Teacher

Dick Hines, or as students call him Doc, is a very inspiring teacher at Daleville High School. Not only has he taught me many things about chemistry, but he has taught me how to handle situations that do not always go as planned. When talking about Doc Hines one word comes to mind: “Selfless”. Doc is always willing to put his students over himself. An example of this would be when I would ask him for help during his prep period on a chemistry paper, he is always willing to sit down with me and really help me understand the problem. He has inspired me to major in chemistry when attending college. Doc has pushed me to become a better athlete as well as a student, while attending high school. I just want to thank you so much for believing in me and helping me in any aspect to stay on track to accomplish me future goals.

MEC Star Teacher

Matt Wilson is my MEC Star Teacher. In my opinion, Mr. Wilson is different than most teachers. He takes the time to get to know his students and creates a fun and positive learning environment for them. As a teacher, Mr. Wilson is well-rounded; he knows a little bit about everything. In his US History class junior year, I think I learned more from him than I have from any other teacher. This year I got the opportunity to be his teacher’s aid. Whether he’s helping me in my economics and government classes or ranting about Purdue basketball, I have learned many valuable things from him. He has become someone that I can talk to and look for advice and I couldn’t be more thankful.
