CHESTERFIELD OPTIMISTS SPONSOR DALEVILLE’S MOST VALUABLE LEADERS AWARDS BANQUET
 
The Chesterfield Optimist Club honored Daleville High School’s Most Valuable Leaders at Mill Creek Civic Center May 9th in the annual Most Valuable Leaders Awards Banquet. Presiding at the event were Deborah Dunham, Chesterfield Optimist Club MVL Chair and Governor Elect of the Optimist International Indiana North District, and Daniel Hanson, Daleville Athletic Director. Mr Hanson introduced the Coaches of each sport who in turn presented medallions to their leadership choices. Coaches described the attributes of each winner highlighting their character and accomplishments and linked them to a portion of the Optimist creed.   
 
Coaches presenting awards to students were as follows:  David Hines, Softball; David Beard, Cross Country; Dalton Baysinger, Wrestling; Jensen Hochstetter, Cheerleading;  Brittney Garrett, Track; Terry Turner, Baseball; Beth Etchison, Volleyball; Ashley Fouch, Girls’ Basketball; Tyler Stotler, Boys’ Basketball. Student athletes receiving awards were as follows: Brandon Wills, Wrestling; Khoa Weston, Cross Country; Connor Fleming, Basketball; Devin Walsh, Track; Evan Baker, Baseball; Cole Meeker, Golf; Morgan Riddle and Mackenzie Riddle, tied for Track and Field; Lexi Leisure, Cheerleading; Willow Cunnington, Golf; Kennedy Scott, Cross Country; and Zoe Brubaker, Volleyball. Daniel Hanson filled in for Coach Joe Rench of Boys’ and Girls’ Golf who could not be there. 
 
Optimist Clara Trusty entertained the group with a comedy routine in which a “volunteered” Mr. Hanson and eighty year old Clara played husband and wife. 
Attending the celebratory event were Optimist members, coaches, and athletes with their families. The dinner was provided by Optimist David Sweet of Chesterfield’s Dairy Queen.
