The junior high cross country team had an incredible night at their one and only home meet this season. The boys won the meet defeating Cowan, Delta, and Tri. The girls placed second, falling only to Delta.
Noah Colvin won the boy’s race with a time of 11:27. Behind him in second and third place were Mekhi Snyder with a time of 11:48 and Bryce Hammerlund with a time of 11:49. The final two scorers for the boy’s team were Corin Withers in 5th place and Karson Kahalekomo in 7th place. In addition to the top five runners, the other boys all had great races, also. There were many personal best times set tonight.
Leading the girl’s team was Macy Kirkpatrick in 5th place with a time of 14:11 with Abi Covert finishing just behind her in 6th place with a time of 14:28. Next up for the lady broncos was Addi Gothrup in 7th place and then Makenna Corbin in 9th place. The final scorer for the girls was Jolene Byrd in 12th place who really stepped up for her team and herself today setting a new personal best time this season with a time of 16:13. In addition to the top five girls, there were lots of personal records set tonight.
The energy of this team tonight was contagious. The 8th graders are really stepping up and being the leaders the team needs. The coaches are so proud of the hard work these athletes are putting in and are looking forward to seeing how they perform again tomorrow. The Broncos will travel to Davis Park in Anderson to compete in the Alexandria Invitational tomorrow. Good luck, Daleville runners!
