The junior high boy’s cross country team didn’t let the non-traditional format of the meet Saturday stop them from winning the Randolph Southen Invitational with a team score of 50 points. The meet was run in three waves of 7-9 teams, with 16 total teams competing. At the completion of the three waves, the results were compiled to determine overall winners and places, based on time, as if the meet were run in just one wave.
Noah Colvin led the Broncos to their victory with a time of 11:47. This put him second in his wave and fifth place overall out of a total 96 runners. Finishing third in his wave and sixth overall was Mekhi Snyder with a time of 11:57. The next three Daleville scorers were Corin Withers, 12th overall with a time of 12:21, Bryce Hammerlund, 18th overall with a time of 12:43, and Brayden Sigler, 29th overall with a time of 13:24. Hayden Johnson also had a great race finishing just two-tenths of a second behind Sigler.
The Lady Broncos finished 7th place overall. Leading the ladies was Macy Kirkpatrick in 29th place overall with a time of 14:44. Next for the Broncos was Abi Covert in 32nd place overall with a time of 14:56. The final scorers for the girls were Addi Gothrup, 40th, Makenna Corbin, 47th, and Jolene Byrd in 70th. The girl’s race had a total of 93 runners.
The junior high Broncos are off to a great season! The coaches are excited to see what’s to come next for this team.
